Signs and Symptoms of Panic Attacks

signs and symptoms of a panic attackPanic and Anxiety Disorders are medical conditions that come with severe and sudden attacks. The signs and symptoms of panic attacks need to be identified separately as it is possible that it may not be a panic attack at all.

For instance, medical conditions that are not directly related to a panic disorder may seem like a panic attack when they really aren’t. And further, you may actually be experiencing the first stages of fear if you are in a dangerous situation, which in itself isn’t a panic attack.

However if you aren’t in these two categories then it is possible that you may be experiencing a panic attack if you recognise these signs:

1. Panic attacks reach full intensity approximately 1 to 2 minutes after they begin
2. The signs of a panic attack may last for several hours
3. The first time it occurs may cause some people to visit a hospital to get themselves checked out
4. The signs and symptoms of panic attacks can recur several times a month, even worse than the initial experience

Around seventy-five percent of sufferers are women, which manifests from the late teenage years and mainly up to 30 years of age. Elderly people rarely experience the signs and symptoms of panic attack.
